Romanesque

Apart from the very few weapons and objects belonging to the Visigoth period, hardly any are found in medieval times that may be awarded to the eleventh centuries in the Romanesque style that starts itself and yet few of this century and the next. For them and throughout the thirteenth century to enter the XIV, abounds in Romanesque style artistic iron which is characteristic repeated use of the spiral as reinforcement and a source of ornament and simplicity in the forms of all objects. These are reduced to the following classes:

Wrought ironwork is forged by a blacksmith using an anvil. The earliest known ironwork are beads from Jirzah in Egypt dating from 3500 BC and made from meteoric iron with the earliest use of smelted iron dates back to Mesopotamia. However, the first use of iron dates back to the Hittites from 2000BC.
